GrantsCheck with your local EDC, i.e. Athens EDC will have various incentive programs for business attraction or start-ups subject to the EDC board approval.  Many grants will require you to have a business plan, financial documents, and may require you to meet economic goals such as providing a number of jobs in the market area.  Read the guidelines per each grant or economic incentive.

Grants can be difficult to find. If you have a grant opportunity, we would be happy to assist you with the support documents, i.e. business plan, and financial projections for your application process. Schedule your appointment with a business advisor.

  • Most grants have application deadlines.  Some grants are on a rolling basis, meaning they take applications at various times.
  • Grants come and go, can be eliminated at any time.
  • Monitoring grant information for criteria, deadlines and new information is critical.
  • AI can be a resource to upload your documents and utilize it to check grant requirements. Use caution on sensitive financial data and consider using a subscribed paid version of AI for better data protection.

Grants.gov is a searchable site for grants.

Texas Women’s University StartHer- annual $5,000 grant programs

Amplifer Grant The Outrage is an activism organization that offers a $5,000 small-business grant to companies making a difference in their community. To qualify for this grant, you must be a business or organization actively working to make the U.S. a better place. The Outrage accepts applications from startups, grassroots organizations, and nonprofits, among other small businesses.

First Nations Development Institute Grants – improves economic conditions for Native Americans through direct financial grants, technical assistance & training, and advocacy & policy

U.S. Chamber of Commerce Business Grants

NAV has a quarterly grant opportunity for small business’. $10,000 1st place, $5,000 runner up. Tip: state the concept of how you will grow your business and purpose to stand out in selection process.

Product Development Fund is designed to aid in the development and production, including the commercialization, of new or improved products in the state of Texas. Products may include an invention, device, technique that’s readily capable of having commercial application. Funding range from $1 million – $5 million

Capital Access Program funding is for small and medium sized businesses and non-profit organizations which are domiciled in the State of Texas or
have at least 51% of their employees located in the state and which are seeking financing for projects, activities or enterprises in the state that foster economic development.
